tesselating ghosts (and bats!)

We’ve been playing around with tesselating tiles at Artschmart, and the other day I stumbled across an amazing resource for designing your own tesselating shapes. You can make a tesselating tile using paper and tape, but if you want to go deeper check out tiled.art. It’s a tesselating tile generator that lets you play around with the geometry to make some really intricate and unique tesselating shapes.

You can save the tile as an svg, so we were able to turn ours into stamps! We used our vinyl cutter to cut out foamie shapes that we glued to cardboard. I made ghosts and Squid (Artschmart’s summer intern!) made bats.

There is also an option to save your tile as an STL file, which means you could make a 3D printed version, which would be perfect for stamping into clay! Hmmm . . .
