Secret advertisement
Last week we tried out the very first meeting of the Secret Art Club! For the first one, Stacy Speyer brought a tesselating stamp project, and it was such a blast. I’ll write more about it soon, but first I wanted to share the playful way we advertised a secret event at Artschmart.
It felt like a bit of a paradox, but we wanted to advertise the Secret Art Club, and so Squid and her friend Pablo came up with a a really ingenious sign. Because it was for a secret club (that anyone is welcome to join) they wanted to make a secret sign. Their first idea was to make a sign with glow-in-the-dark ink, so it would only show up at night. I thought that was a brilliant idea (and one we might come back to!) but then they had another idea to make a sign that was locked, like a safe.
We happened to have the perfect tools that day, cardboard, hot-glue and 1000 popsicle sticks, so they set to work designing a sign that could be locked and un-locked by a curious passer-by.
