stat stemple field trip
Artschmart went on a field trip today! We were inspired by the Stadt Stemple project to try making stamps from found objects in the neighborhood. The materials we used were kneaded erasers to take impressions of found objects, colorful stamp pads to print them, and homemade cardboard art boards with paper clipped to them that we could easily carry on our walk.
We met at Artschmart for donuts, and then headed out into the neighborhood with our tools to look for interesting textures and objects we could turn into stamps. We used manhole covers, car tires, natural materials and found objects to make prints. Some of the best prints were from things people were wearing, like zippers and shoes. It was a lot of fun turning the sidewalk into a printmaking workshop, and it was interesting to look at the world with a different filter for a bit. It was hard to stop once the walk was over!
