secret vending machines
We’ve been installing tiny secret vending machines around the east bay, and there is one hidden somewhere near the old Artschmart shop. It’s very a very small vending machine, made out of an old watercolor tin, and it’s filled with free hand-made zines. If you find it, you can take a zine, and you can add your own, too! We’re installing a few of them around the east bay, and they all have different zines in them.
The secret vending machine is a geocache, and if you haven’t heard of geocaching, here are the basics. . . . geocaches are physical containers hidden in public places (in really ingenious ways) and you can search for them using set of coordinates. Some of the caches are tiny, some are elaborate, and looking for them turns a walk around the neighborhood into a treasure hunt. The caches all have paper logs inside, and you can add your name if you find one. The Geocaching app has a map of the caches, and they are hidden all over the world.
