Polyhedra Party!

Stacy Speyer came over and we had a Polyhedra Party at Artschmart!

Stacy Speyer is an amazing artist who has a series of 3D coloring books called “Cubes and Things” that let you color and construct your own polyhedra, and she hosts polyhedra parties where people can work on them together (and hang out with Stacy, a polyhedra expert, artist and all-around delightful human). Stacy’s books have pages and pages of beautiful geometric nets (which are what geometric shapes look like if you flatten them) that she designed with geometric patterns you can color and fold into beautiful geometric shapes.

For the Polyhedra Party, Stacy brought printed pages from her Cubes and Things books, colorful markers, tape and gorgeous examples from past parties. I made chocolate chip cookies for the party, and we hung a fun sign in the window to invite people to come in. Then we opened up the door to see who would come to the party.

We spent the whole morning talking, coloring the geometric nets and making paper polyhedra. It was delightful, and Stacy is coming back soon to make Hexaflexagons on July 9th from 10-1
